My name is Maria Williams and i hold a Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy. I facilitate workshops, groups, and private sessions in order to inspire personal growth and change. I have been using the arts in therapy within disability services, mental health facilities and in private practice since 2014 and held roles as a Community Support Worker with Greystanes Disability Services, Leura, NSW and NZCare Hamilton, NZ.
I have a wide range of experience using art therapy in diverse client settings.
I have a private Creative Arts Therapy & Counselling practice in Whitianga, suitable for anyone seeking deeper self-awareness and well being. I am a proud member of professional bodies CTAA- Creative Therapies Association Aotearoa and DNANZ- Dream Network Aotearoa New Zealand. As well as working in my private practice, I am also a parent of two children.
I have a holistic approach to life and my passion for creative art therapy has grown out of my own life experience of grief/loss, and hardships. Using visual art, writing, music, dance, meditation, cultural identity, ancestral lineage and dreams as methods of inner exploration and self preservation.
Years of life experience has assisted me in developing an open, accepting and multi-cultural view of working with a wide variety of people. Arts in therapy enabled me in accessing intuition, empowerment and transforming my life.
